Ironmen Launch Pilot Indigenous Mental Health Program with Matraville Sports High School

Six Time Ironman Champion, Ali Day, has launched a pilot program aimed at tackling the Indigenous youth suicide crisis effecting men. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are six times more likely to die by suicide than their non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander counterparts, with young Aboriginal men encountering a 40% higher chance of suicide than non-Aboriginal men.

Kellogg’s and the Clontarf Foundation have partnered to deliver a series of workshops focussing on holistic health, including sleep, nutrition, social connection and physical activity. The first workshop was with students from Matraville Sports High, who hit the beach to undergo a gruelling Ironman training session, followed by a face to face workshop on wellbeing led by Champion Ironmen, Ali Day and Matt Bevilacqua.
