Jazz made in Australia – Program for Monday 8th of June 2015
Eamon Dilworth´s Tiny Hearts
Trumpeter Eamon Dilworth´s original quintet was `The Dilworths´ which quickly became a tight unit stayed together for some years. Following that Eamon in collaboration with drummer Paul Derricott formed a new quintet and they called it `Tiny Hearts`. It is a classic quintet line up of sax and trumpet with piano, bass, drums rhythm section.
Their self titled debut CD, recorded in 2013 and released in 2014, on their own label Arrow, has a composition from each member of the quintet, who were encouraged to draw from personal experience. Eamon says there are tales of travel, searching, thinking of the cosmos, loss and identity. He describes the compositions´ `as a collection of stories written individually and re imagined together`.
The other players along with Eamon on trumpet and drummer Paul Derricott, are saxophonist Dave Jackson, Steve Barry playing piano and Tom Botting bass.
Paula Langlands played some material from his CD called `Alluvium´when it first was released and now you can hear 2 more compositions on her next JMIA show on Monday 8th of June 2015.
The first composition is one of Eamon´s and it´s called `Brief Stint´ in which Eamon opens with a few bars of pretty impresive trumpet playing, and the second is a slower piece of Steve Barry´s which he calls `Kanji´.
