RHYTHM REMEDY – RAISING HOPE FOR THE PHILIPPINES

rhythmremedy

In conjunction with Shelter Box Australia, Sydney musicians BEK JENSEN, BOW AND ARROW, ROB EDWARDS, TINA HARROD & MATT McMAHON, MICHAEL WHEATLEY TRIO, SHAUNE JENSEN, SHOWER IDOLSand WEIRD ASSEMBLY are coming together with melody, rhythm and soul to raise money for the millions of people devastated in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The devastation wrought by Typhoon Haiyan so moved Sydney musician Bek Jensen and independent marketing consultant Kerri Ellis, that they felt compelled to try to assist the Filipino people.

Bek Jensen said, “When the Typhoon hit the Philippines in early November 2013 and I saw the images of the devastation, I broke down into tears. How so, so terrible would it be for all of the poor helpless people. Their homes and jobs were taken away by the wind and the rain. Their families killed. I felt so sad and helpless too. I then thought, ‘what if there are others out there ion my community that feel like I do?’ Of course there are. Everyone I have spoken with feels deeply for the people there and all want to help in any way they can. Jam Gallery have wonderfully donated the venue, as have the incredible musicians on the bill their time and their talent. I am so grateful and proud of my community coming forward to make a difference in these people’s lives. It is my wish that we raise 1000’s of dollars to buy as many ShelterBoxes as we can.”

Kerri Ellis felt the same, saying, “When the news hit that the Philippines had suffered yet again from another typhoon, it made me stop and look at my own life and where I am heading, what more can I do to bring greater happiness to others. The moment I saw Bek’s request for others to jump on board with her, I was in there boots and all to do whatever I could to assist in staging this benefit night so as to raise money for shelterboxes for the peoples of the Philippines. This is something I can do that is effective and helpful for others less fortunate than me. I am honoured to work with these incredibly talented musicians and performers who are using their talent to help us raise more money to help the Philippines. I hope to turn this night into a great success and to do all I can to help others.”

There are fantastic prizes to be won (great Christmas presents), serious music to be enjoyed, dancing, drinking and a good time is essential to remind us just how unbelievably lucky we are at this time of our lives and that we have the power to make a difference in someone else’s life.
