Shakespeare TwentyScore

Banner 1

2016 marks 400 years since Shakespeare’s death. No writer in the English language is better known or more influential. Perhaps more importantly, the huge number of people who involve Shakespeare in their lives every day – teachers and students, readers and writers, performers and audiences – show that 400 years of using his words to speak of our most profound experiences is a history worth sharing.

Commemorations of the date, and celebrations of this extraordinary life and contribution to our own lives will be taking place all around the world. Until now, Australia has lacked an organisation with the resources and motivation to create an active participation for this country in this worldwide event.

The Shakespeare TwentyScore website is now live, and ready to help. The website consolidates listings of any commemorative events happening in Australia (and a bit from New Zealand) throughout the year.

Labours

Shakespeare TwentyScore is here to both make it easy to find out about any events in Australasia taking place to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, and to offer support to anyone wishing to set up something of their own. There are downloadable resources for anyone wanting to initiate an activity, or bring some Shakespeare into their classroom or social club, listings and links, and details of performances and other events.

Although the anniversary itself is on 23rd April, this site will continue to be updated throughout 2016.

Resources for schools, clubs and libraries are being added all the time, so please check back often to see what’s new, and go ahead and ask us for anything that would be useful to you.

Please check in on the website, Facebook page or Twitter account throughout the year, and make use of everything you find there. And send us pictures of any events you create or attend yourself!

Anyone interested in having an event listed is encouraged to send us an email to info@shakespearetwentyscore.org
