Flooding the Stage With Happy-Go-Lucky Melodies Played by an All-Star Band

The Sydney Improvised Music Association is proud to announce that the catholics will be performing at Foundry 616 on 20 March.

Led by ARIA-winning bassist Lloyd Swanton (The Necks), the catholics are one of Sydney’s most-loved jazz super groups.

Their 25 year history has resulted in eight critically acclaimed albums that traverse the globe with influences from African, Eastern and Carribbean music.

Rolling Stone praised the all-star band for its ‘richness, diversity, accessibility, virtuosity, imagination, and inventiveness’, and part of that is the group’s ability to make swinging jazz work over world beat grooves.

Lloyd Swanton Double Bass
Gary Daley Piano/Accordion
Jeremy Rose Soprano, Tenor Saxophone and Bass Clarinet
James Greening Trombone/ Pocket Trumpet

Comprised of Sydney’s greatest players, The catholics sound like what you’d hope Paul Simon might write after Graceland, or a dream in the heat of the day.

The performance will take place at Foundry 616 on 20 March, 2020 at 8:30pm!
