Simon Ferenci Quartet – Simon Ferenci Quartet

Simon Ferenci Quartet - Simon Ferenci QuartetEastside Radio’s Album of the Week is the self-titled album by The Simon Ferenci Quartet.

Simon Ferenci Quartet is the debut album from Sydney trumpeter Simon Ferenci, and on the album he is joined by Hugh Barrett on piano, Mike Majikowski on bass and James Waples on drums.

It’s a well accomplished and ambitious first release from the group. Featuring all original compositions, free improvisations and structured interaction, the album forays into intense jazz that draws on classical elements. Textures, harmonies and rhythms all contrast and combine to create alternative moods. Chilling soundscapes, artistic panoramas and reflective auras are a few of the impressions the quartet create.

Overall the release is one to really mull over, a truly meditative jazz experience.

Simon Ferenci Quartet is an independent release by Simon Ferenci. For more information go to simonferenci.bandcamp.com
