Today Justine spoke to Nathan Curnow and Raymond Nedziak.

Playlist:

1. The Vegetarian Zombie – EZB (Going Down Swinging no. 30 2010)
2. Last Night I Met Frank Sinatra – Sore Throat (Going Down Swinging no. 30 2010)

Nathan Curnow is one of the editors of Going Down Swinging, which is about to celebrate its 30th year with a bumper edition of their twice-annual magazine. I am a big fan of this publication, which consistently couples beautiful design (the latest edition, pictured below showsa painting by Melbourne artist Katrina Rhodes) with poetry, fiction, comics and spoken word from Australia and around the world. They have a tendency to go for the slightly offbeat and have been a platform for many emerging writers over the years.

Raymond Nedziak organises the monthly Mersey Sound Collective events in Newtown, Sydney where poetry, live-painting and music combine. The Mersey Sound Collective have a whole host of exciting events happening at the Sydney Fringe Festival and you can find out information about that from their facebook page (see above link).
