Something Else 22 October with Westside

Justine returned today with another segment on the writing life of Sydney, branching out West this time to talk about Westside Productions with Michael Mohammed Ahmad.

Okay, I said it. I like Violence. I. Like. It.
– Introduction

Westside Productions recently launched ‘Violence’, a compilation of stories and poetry from high school students with refugee backgrounds. It is a compelling volume of work, giving voice to an often-marginalised community of people. Most of the students have English as a second language and the idiosyncrasies of their use of the language are left in, revealing something raw and pared back. The turns of phrase and repetition bring to relief the language that we take for granted.

These are my Jokes:
Piss off man. I just got myself a new place man. Have you ever had a neighbour that borrows your stuff and you have to borrow them back?

The work speaks for itself really.
