First up, Justin spoke about his upcoming exhibition at Firstdraft Gallery called Acts of Science.
For this exhibition, he’s been performing his own acts of science- expermenting with melting minerals under really high temperatures in a kiln. It’s kind of like making your own volcanic eruption. The results form the basis of his experimental sculptures, and are also the subject of his photography.

We also spoke to Josie Cavalarro.
She’s a Sydney based sculpture, video and installation artist Her work is informed by the built environment, technology and the social systems that manipulate human exchange.
She has an exhibition opening next week at the MOP Project Space called Texting Pidgeons, which, through using pidgeon tumb puppets, observes how mobile technologies have become a conductor of human gesture, movement and communication within public spaces.
At MOP, she’s created an aviary that houses multiple editions of video footage that capture pigeon thumb puppets texting messages or scrolling for information.

She has also told me off air about some super interesting works of hers- unfortunately I ran out of time and didn’t get time to play them.
ne of those was the Awkward Silence project- an ongoing project of hers in which she places wine glasses with barely noticable text in the exhibition setting, mediating between conversations, and social rituals within the contemporary art setting. check it out here: www.awkwardsilenceproject.wordpress.com/
