Soul legend Omar live in concert this Saturday night!
A day many Sydneysiders have long awaited is coming… This Saturday 10 November soul legend Omar will hit the stage of the Oxford Art Factory accompanied by Sydney soul singer Milan and a full band, ready to deliver a show you will never forget.
Presented by Funkdafied & Red Karpet Music, this will be his second performance Down Under following Melbourne the night before.
After initial success in the UK with his debut single ‘There’s Nothing Like This’ in 1991, Omar conquered stages all over the world, soon owning the title of a soul legend. Face Magazine describes him as “the reigning don of UK Soul” or as rapper Ol’ Dirty Bastard put it: “This cat’s sh#t is banging”.
Releasing six albums and fourteen singles, Omar has worked together with Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone, hip-hop artist Common, Estelle, Syreeta Wright and many more. He is not only a singer and songwriter, but also plays piano, percussion and trumpet passionately.
Omar will be supported by Sydney soul singer and songwriter Milan, who has been described as a seasoned soul performer, mature in tonality, musicianship and expression, teetering at the edge of international recognition. Her musical repertoire combines blues, jazz, soul, reggae and hip hop to a sound that has been compared to Lauryn Hill, India Arie and Erykah Badu.
Also performing is DJ JC. Originally from London, JC now plays venues all over Sydney as well as major festivals. He has supported international artists such as Soul II Soul, Syl Johnson, Norman Jay, Mr Thing and many more.
