Sounds of Now: Paul Cutlan String Project & Polymorphic Orkestra

Sounds of Now present quality artists and their original music in a focused concert setting. No bar, no food, no coffee machines, (no election results) just great sound, great lighting and a great focus for artist and audience alike.

Series 1 is a concert of highly original art music featuring two unique ensembles:

Paul Cutlan String Project – https://www.paulcutlan.com

Will perform Cutlan’s recent work The Eleventh Hour, alongside unique arrangements of Coltrane, Dolphy and Jann Rutherford.

“Hybrids can be mongrels, but Cutlan’s works are refreshingly original and exude vitality… composing and improvising are of equal merit – some achievement for such an ambitious, genre-defying project.”-John Shand Sydney Morning Herald

Paul Cutlan – Composer | Bass Clarinet | Soprano Sax •Liisa Pallandi – Violin

Lachlan O’Donnell – Violin • James Eccles – Viola • Oliver Miller – Cello • Elsen Price – Double Bass

Polymorphic Orkestra – https://www.polymorphicorkestra.com

Will explore the idea of “Shadowland” with special guest video artist Bartek Reszelski.

This is contemporary improvisation of a very high order – not only does the listener experience the joy of spontaneous creation by the players but also, and this is I think pretty unusual, you are left with memorable snippets of tunes and melody that stay with you long after the music ends. Chris Baber – Jazz Views

Lee McIver – Trumpet | Laptop | FX

Ed Goyer – Vibraphone | Malletkat | Samples | Percussion

Ed Rodrigues – Drums | Samples | Percussion
