Sounds Of Soul chronicles and playlist (1.3.2013): Wax addiction
There is no question that I would qualify in the eyes of most people as a so-called “vinyl-junkie”, a commonly used term I personally find slightly depressing. What this expression should suggest that people like me are addicted to vinyl-records and would go to any length to satisfy their craving for evermore copies of music on wax. Whilst I have to confess that occasionally my hands are slightly shaking in excitement when I open a newly arrived parcel containing new material, my addiction has its limits and probably more benefits than downsides. First of all it’s a coming and going in my collection and I don’t really find it hard to part from records when there is the prospect to get in an better piece of vinyl for the price of the old one. And if you play these records in roughly the right order to your fellow human beings it becomes an addiction that brings joy to others rather than misery. Or so you hope.
