Sounds Of Soul chronicles and playlist (13.09.2013): Week-ender
It’s an established tradition that the small but vibrant Northern Soul scene of this town is putting on an annual weekender, featuring three nights of non-stop Rare Soul music, played by DJ from all over the country, and almost non-stop dancing. This year’s weekender extravaganza is kicking of appropriately by the end of this week with a special night staring the next generation of Rare Soul DJs, the so called Bloomin’ Souls. It’s heartening that there is such a group of young enthusiasts coming through in the Northern and Rare Soul scene, an underground movement of such a long and enduring history that many members call even a man in his mid forties like me “son”. This year Sydney’s Bloomin’ Souls took on the task of not only organizing their own night but the whole weekender with the help of original Wigan girl Una, who for years was the main person behind this annual event.
