Sounds Of Soul chronicles and playlist (14.06.2013): 30 years 30 records
I remember that I was a bit shocked by the first sighs of ageing when I turned thirty, the little beer belly and the receding hairline that suddenly appeared, but with Radio Eastside, which celebrates it’s 30 birthday this year, it seems to be the reverse – it’s getting younger and more dynamic by the year. This is not an empty phrase; I can attest how much this community radio station has developed since I joined as presenter of Sounds Of Soul 8 years ago. Of course this was only possible by the contributions our generous supporters who sighed up over the years and kept this ship financially afloat and steaming in the right direction. And that’s why I ask all our listeners to shout a round for the birthday kid by becoming a supporter of Eastside Radio or renewing their support. And here’s the birthday party soundtrack, my top 30 of all times:
- James Fountain – Seven Day Lover
- Don Thomas – Come On Train
- El Anthony – We’ve Been In Love Too Long
- The Young Holt Trio – Ain’t There Something Money Can’t Buy
