Sounds Of Soul chronicles and playlist (18.10.2013): Busy B.
Last week has been without exaggeration a pretty busy but immensely rewarding week for yours truly. First of all I had the great honour to interview the one and only Larry Graham of Sly And The Family Stone and Graham Central Station fame, a man who none other than Prince calls the greatest bass player he has ever worked with. I honestly can’t wait to air my conversation with this man in one of the next shows, he’s not only a great musician but also had some fantastic stories to tell. Then there was Radio Eastside’s Global Rhythms festival, one of the annual highlights for this station and a big success, followed by the twenty-first installment of Motion, my favorite club to spin records and party in this town. And of course there was time for another Sounds Of Soul radio show, this time with congenial co-presenter Northern Soul Poster Boy who excelled once more in the witty comment department as well as with his record selection. Here’s my own set of vinyl, including my latest acquisition, a stunning record by Tolbert with the title “I’ve Got It” and probably the only original copy in this country:
