Sounds Of Soul chronicles and playlist (29.11.2013): Elves free
I’ve never been a big fan of the so called silly season but this years pre-Christmas season started pleasantly enough with this years last Motion night and a double header Sounds Of Soul radio show shared with the congenial Northern Soul Poster Boy. Like almost every year the sudden shift from normality to festive craziness took me by surprise and only when a dozen drunk male and female Santa Claus and Christmas elves impersonators entered the pub, where I was killing time till the start of Fridays radio show, did I realized that the hard core party time has come. I’m not known to be a misanthrope at all and like a good do like anybody else so it was a nice surprise that Saturdays Motion nighter was Santa Claus and elves free. Even without guests from the North Pole we blew of the roof of the Hollywood hotel with the usual mix of 70s Northern and Modern Soul and Disco featuring special guest DJ Harry Sounds from Radio Eastside’s Boogie Dance Café. A great weekend altogether that kicked off with Friday’s radio show where I dropped this selection of tunes:
Liberation/Love Looks Good On You/7″ S. O. A.
Patterson Twins/I Need Your Love/7″ Maloco
Solid Solution/ Think About It Girl/LP Loving You/Silver Spoon
Sammy Acuna/I Never Found A Girl/7″ New Wave
Curtis Mayfield/You Are, You Are/7″ Curtom
Bill Brandon/The Streets Got My Lady/7″ Piedmont Records
Flakes/Miss Fine Lover/7″ Source
Gloria Gaynor/Walk On By/7″ MGM
Sparkle/Disco Madness/12″ attic
Sweet Daddy Floyd/I Just can’t Help Myself (Pt.I)/7″ Super Star
