Sounds Of Soul chronicles and playlist (31.01.2014): Sister Soul
After extensive travels through Australia in January that culminated in spreading the gospel of Rare Soul at the annual Gold Coast weekender I was last Friday in the chair of Sounds Of Soul radio again. It was a great surprise of the most pleasant kind to have Alex White as impromptu guest in the studio, one of the original Soul Sisters who made me so welcome more than a decade ago when I first visited these shores. It was 11 years ago that I was invited by the four Soul Sisters to do a little guest spot at their radio show when passing through town as a tourist equipped with a little box of records. Of course I had no clue at that stage that I would one day be the regular presenter of this very Rare Soul program on Radio Eastside. I’m still very grateful to this collective of very talented DJs and radio presenters who either stopped broadcasting like Lynda Savage or quit town like Alex White, Maria Orlovic and Miss Goldie, who is continuing the Soul Sisters’ tradition by hosting her own show at Melbourne radio station PBS. Alex proofed her unchanged great taste in Soul records with a stunning selection last Friday as you can see below:
