Spooky Invasion at Bondi Public School’s Halloween Fete
On Sunday the 28th of October Bondi Public School will open its doors from 10am for the biennial fundraising Halloween Fete. Entry is by gold coing donation with all funds going towards extending the variety of books in the school’s library. A smaller part will be put towards financing the reading recovery program as well as helping to pay for maths tuition among other things. This year the school hopes to raise more than the $50 000 collected at the last Fete, which was spent on a fantastic bespoke piece of play equipment created for the school by furniture designer, Russel Koskela.
The Halloween Fete will be a lot of fun for children as Bondi Public School provides a wide range of entertainment. Kids can go for exciting rides including a giant slide, do the ‘action inflatables’, a big blow up obstacle course, or take a seat in one of the spinning tea cups. In the spooky disco children can dance and party to their favorite songs. Students also have the exciting opportunity to ‘Dunk the Teacher,’ a one-time not to be missed experience!
For the smallest guests there is a petting zoo with lambs, goats, chickens, rabbits and others. Do not forget to dress up of course, as you can win a Spot Prize for having one of the best costumes. So show them your vampire teeth or your orange pumpkin face. You may even have a better chance after visiting the Halloween face painting. If not pay only two dollars and try your luck at the ‘yucky dip’ where you can pull exciting prizes out of a pot of green goo.
Also families can enjoy the live entertainment including performances by the school’s string ensemble, choir and junior band. Be proud of the children as you listen to what they have prepared for weeks. Stroll along the stalls every class has prepared to buy cheap second hand books, toys or clothing.
For these among you that already think about Christmas: Why not buy some self-made wrapping paper designed by students? You can even get delicious homemade cakes and jams as well as the new Bondi Public School cookbook named ‘A Year in the Kitchen Garden’. It will provide you with mouth-watering recipes from many of Australia’s most famous chefs. Discover how pupils spent their time in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden from its illustrations.
If the recipes have made you hungry by then, get some of the delicious food or drinks provided. You will be spoilt for choice having the option to choose between sausages, sushi, gelato, freshly squeezed juice, coffee and more. Wow! That’s a fancy school tuckshop! This is a big event for the Bondi Public School for all pupils, families and other visitors. Take your chance to dress up and celebrate this Halloween Fete as a bi-annual family event.
