Sydney Fringe Festival & Lake Light Sculpture-Arts Monday withMargaux Dombkins

Today’s guests: Kerri Glasscock, Michael Scott Lees, Jan Ireland and Todd Costa.

10351175_773591092653242_1835383561793646784_n The 2014 Sydney Fringe Festival Director, Kerri Glasscock, discusses this year’s Festival that celebrates the experimental, grass-roots cultural heart of Sydney, with 300 productions at 60 venues across Sydney.

The Festival program spans a diverse range of art forms including theatre, music, comedy, visual art, film, cabaret, musical theatre, dance, circus, literature and poetry, and celebrates all things Sydney from local community groups to well known touring artists. Local communities, businesses and Sydney nightlife are engaged through a series of dynamic street activations, laneway bars and public artworks.

The Sydney Fringe Festival is the largest independent arts festival in NSW, representing thousands of artists across all art forms, It has built a reputation for nurturing and supporting emerging artists, presenting established artists in the development of new works, promoting small to medium sized venues and activating public spaces.

Award winning Landscape Photographer and Sculptor, Michael Scott Lees chats about his passion and inspiration for creating unique works of art. Michael, regarded as one of Australia’s premier high country photographers is now also receiving critical acclaim as a sculptor.

Michael’s works – photographs and sculptures – are found in private collections, in institutions and corporations, as well as in public spaces.

Michael is based in the NSW Snowy Mountains. Michael’s “Let it Snow” won the People’s Choice Award at the 2014 Lake Light Sculpture Exhibition, Jindabyne.

Jan Ireland, Creator and Director of Sculpture On The Edge, discusses her lifelong interest in the visual arts. Held annually in Bermagui, on the NSW far South Coast, Sculpture on the Edge includes a public symposium, an exhibition of large sculptural pieces at Endeavour Point Headland, Dickinson Park and Horseshoe Bay beach, as well as an indoor exhibition of smaller sculptures at the Bermagui Community Centre. 
 Jan was on the judging panel for the 2014 Lake Light Sculpture, Jindabyne.

lake light Todd Costa, Director of Lake Light Sculpture Exhibition, Jindabyne, chats about the support of community volunteers and local businesses that are essential to staging this annual event. Now in its 12th year, Lake Light Sculpture features evening illumination that transforms the many diverse sculptures positioned on the foreshores of Lake Jindabyne.

The exhibition is open to all forms of sculpture in any medium and attracts a strong field of established, mid career, emerging and novice artists.

The exhibition is judged by an expert panel with awards offered for categories including Major Award, Environment, Illumination, Schools, Youth, Encouragement and People’s Choice.
