Sydney Latin American Film Festival

September means spring, and the quickest way to shake off the chill of winter has got to be to immerse yourself in the heat of Latin American Cinema. The 9th Sydney Latin American Film Festival is about to set screens aflame, with highly praised new features and documentaries from all over Central and South America. Movies are showing from Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Argentina and many more places in the Spanish-speaking diaspora.

The Festival Program Guide is the place to find all the details of the nearly twenty films on offer, as well as special family and local filmmakers’ events.

The opening night screening is of Cuban coming-of-age film Conducta (Behaviour). But as always when this festival is in town, that is just the beginning. Following the film showing the Festival will serve up a fabulous fiesta at the Goodgod Small Club, headlined by Mucho Mambo, a truly authentic latin band with a funky edge complemented by the sounds of DJ Señor Bolivar. You can feast on a delicious selection of bites and enjoy drinks from Pacífico Beer and Havana Club Rum, and imagine yourself transported to a place where the summer has already arrived.

Where: Event Cinema, George St. Sydney

When: Opening Night Fiesta Wednesday Sept 3rd, 7pm

Festival Runs 3 – 10 September
