Sydney Sacred Music Festival 2013

Coming into its third year, the Sydney Sacred Music Festival is back.

From the 1st to the 22nd of September throughout Sydney.

The festival is a fascinating showcase of some of the most beautiful spiritual arts, from photography to calligraphy, yoga to film – and of course music.

Whether you already have a keen interest or you just want to find out what it’s all about; the amazing blend of both spiritual and cultural events and music that the Scared Music Festival offers will have something for everyone.

Here are just a few examples.

From the 7th – 21st the TresErotique  photographic exhibition will be on show at the Riverside Theatres, Parramatta.

It will explore the erotic features of trees. By drawing parallels between the world of trees and the world of humans, this collection of images highlights the importance of tree appreciation and preservation. The artist is LEONARDA KOVAČIĆ, a photographic artist, historian and tutor based in Parramatta. The exhibition includes a free Artist Talk, and all works are available for sale.

On Saturday the 21st, celebrating the richness and diversity of our modern society, Sydney Chamber Choir explores musical intersections between old and new, tradition and innovation, East and West.

We then explore links between Asia, the Torres Strait Islands, and contemporary visions of the landscape in a rich program that integrates the Western choral tradition with the exotic sounds of the Chinese erhu.

The Festival will be moving around Sydney. From Blacktown to Bondi,  Campbelltown, Parramatta, Penrith, Mosman, Wentworth Falls and several places in between, showing devotional music both ancient and new, mainstream, new age and cross-cultural.
