The Black Seeds – Dust And Dirt

Eastside Radio’s album of the week is Dust And Dirt by The Black Seeds.

Dust And Dirt is the fifth studio album from the New Zealand based band, and with their four previous LPs all certified platinum back in their homeland, their latest release has been hotly anticipated.

The Black Seeds blend reggae, funk, dub and ska in their music, and on Dust And Dirt the band also venture into rock n roll sounds with some fantastic guitar riffs that then smoothly transition into groovy, dubby beats. There is a fantastic breadth of mood on the album, at times crashing drums and energetic saxs and trumpets beg you to get up and start to boogie, whilst there are other moments when one is lulled in a to a state of trance by psychadelic echoed vocals and muffled dub throbs. The energy of the band is truly infectious, and upon listening to Dust And Dirt an overriding urge seeps through you to go and see the group live.

Fans of Easy Star All Stars should know of their style, the band are signed to their Easy Star record label in the U.S.

Here in Australia, Dust And Dirt is a release by Remote Control Records. For more information go to www.remotecontrolrecords.com.au
