The Cactus Channel – Haptics

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is Haptics by The Cactus Channel.

The Cactus Channel’s rise to prominence has been nothing short of rapid. In fact it was only about this time last year when the band were unearthed as they released their debut single ‘Pepper Snake’ as a 7 inch whilst still at High School!

Having graduated since then, Haptics is the fruits of their work since, and it sees the 10 piece band from Melbourne continue to grow as they serve up smoking hot cuts of instrumental soul funk.

Cool is not a ‘cool’ enough word to describe the sound of The Cactus Channel. Their music would sit perfectly at home in a Tarantino film á la Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs. Whether you’re one of those who sits in the corner and nods their head like a tough guy, or you’re more of the type to throw wild moves on the deck, Haptics offers a sound that is suitable to both characters.

Whilst perhaps not quite the finished article yet, Haptics is an incredibly exciting and encouraging debut from The Cactus Channel. Indeed to say that they’re quickly affirming themselves as one of the most exciting young and upcoming bands in Australia would be no overstatement.

You can catch the band in Sydney for their album launch at Goodgod Small Club on Friday 28th September.

Haptics is a release by Hope Street Records. For more information go to thecactuschannel.com

Stay closely tuned to Eastside as we are giving away a copy of Haptics to a listener every-day this week!
