Arts Thursday, with Maisy Stapleton on 26th February, explores aspects of the creative mind and how it plays out through design, ingenuity, innovation, inventiveness, imagination and creative practice.
First up in our series Design Antenna, we meet Ben Wahrlich who started a design business Anaesthetic, with partner Kiri Hughes, to bring their own product ideas to realisation.
Anaethetic’s products, worked in wood, leather and concrete include lighting, seating and household goods and in this Arts Thursday interview, Ben talks to Maisy Stapleton about how he approaches design, the challenges and of running a design company and his views on ‘good design’
Artist Margarita Sampson, takes us on a wild and imaginative journey into the realms of creativity. In her new exhibition, Infectious Desires, at the Stanley Street Gallery in Darlinghurst, we enter a mysterious world where familiar forms from nature and domesticity intersect to form chaotic mutations.
These unexpected works, both vibrant and exquisitely wrought, tell of the artist’s concerns about the environment and over stressed eco-systems.
