The Field – Merle Takes A Holiday

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is Merle Takes a Holiday by The Field.

This is The Field’s third album who comprise of Bruce Reid on slide guitar, John Stuart on electric guitar and congas, Lloyd Swanton on bass, Hamish Stuart on drums, whilst Merle Takes A Holiday also features a guest appearance from vocalist Tina Harrod.

Merle Takes a Holiday is nothing short of a delightful listen from start to finish. The group have found a niche sound for themselves as they straddle organically and delicately between blues, country, jazz and roots music. The subtlety of The Field’s play is the key to their success, as the band sooth and lull you through a hazy spring field, but also occasionally throw in an unpredictable drum line to keep you hooked and in tune with the sound.

Easy and warming music, Merle Takes a Holiday is the perfect sound track to a sleepy and relaxing Sunday arvo, taking you to a place away from the hussle and bussle of everyday life. A very important tonic for everyone once in a while!

Merle Takes A Holiday is an independent release by The Field. For more information go to thefieldbrucereid.com
