The Hushes – Cold River Blues

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is Cold River Blues by The Hushes.

Hailing from Adelaide, The Hushes are a new quartet which feature the sultry vocals of Emily Davis, the double bass of jazz musician Kory Horwood, Bluegrass guitar skills from Cal Williams Jr and Ben Timbers picking the Banjo.

Cold River Blues is the debut release from the group, and their string of sold out album launch shows created a bit of a stir down in the South Australian capital.

The four musicians together on Cold River Blues take you on a dark and heady journey filled with tales of whisky and smoky blues. Emily Davis’ smooth and rich vocals are skilfully woven between and complimented serenely with folk-tinged bluegrass guitar skills, off the wall double bass, banjo and guitar solos and elements of gospel vocals.

The Hushes are at the forefront of a mini blues revival occurring down in Adelaide at the moment, and the sounds on Cold River Blues are sure to have you toe tapping and head nodding before you know it.

Cold River Blues is an independent release by The Hushes. For more information go to https://www.reverbnation.com/thehushes
