Here’s what albums were featured on The New Thing today and which tracks were played!

Melody Gardot – The Absence

The third album from the quite remarkable Melody Gardot is a sultry smooth serve of light vocal jazz with a slight world touch, absorbed from her time spent in Morocco, Argentina and Brazil. Produced by Brazilian composer and guitarist Heitor Pereira, The Absence is a simply beautiful album.

‘Goodbye’

‘So Long’

‘Iemanja’

Independent Track Of The Week

‘Breakin The Chains Of Love (Live Version)’ by Fitz & The Tantrums from the House of Blues Boston EP 2. Download the EP for free from here: https://fitzandthetantrums.com/

Shelly Hughes – Where The Owl Was

The third album from Shelly Hughes sees the Byron Bay girl take a slightly different direction from her previous releases. Where before her sound was of a more jazz/folk persuasion, Where The Owl Was sees the singer delve into soul music, with fantastic, emotive and at times spine tingling results!

Gerard Masters – Random Acts Of Jazz Vol. 1

The new album from one of the most respected Aussie pianists sees Gerard Masters take a new direction with his sound. Gerard sings on this release for a start, and the style is a more soulful, pop and electronically tinged sound. Something fresh and new and definitely not what you would expect.
