Vijay Iyer Trio – Accelerando

Vijay Iyer is often regarded as on of the top Jazz pianists in the world right now. His latest offering, Accelerando, out on 13th March on ACT features Stephan Crump on bass and Marcus Gilmore on drums. The album mostly features original compositions with a few interpretations thrown in too.

Anna Salleh – A Felicidade

Sydney based singer/guitarist Anna Salleh has spent some time in Brazil recently and the influences have come through on A Felicidade.  Featuring Bossa Nova, Samba, Choro and Caravan sounds, the album is a lovely collection of live interpretations. You can catch Anna at her album launch next friday 16th March at the Cafe Church in Glebe.

Bridie King  – Blue Ivories

Sydney pianist Bridie King’s new album features an array of New Orleans piano blues to get down and boogie to. The added vocals of Pat Powell on a couple of tracks add a bit of soul to the equation. Blue Ivories is an energetic & fun album.

Alphamama – Truth, Trips and Revelations

After then success of her debut EP and her storming performance at Eastside live at 505, Alphamama is about to drop her new album Truth, Trips and Revelations. The all star girl group hit you with soulful R&B with reggae influences with downright sass and attitude. Her album launch is this Wednesday at the Oxford Art Factory, an event not to be missed!
