The New Thing 14/11/11 Track List & Albums

Here’s what albums were featured on The New Thing today and which tracks were played!

Liam Burrows – All Of Me

When I first heard that Liam was discovered on Australia’s got talent I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about this release. However all my reservations were blown away upon listening to it. The young man of 17 has a voice of maturity well beyond his years and is backed superbly by the John Morrison Swing Band on this album, performing a whole array of classics.

Tracks played on The New Thing:

“I’ve Got You Under My Skin”

“The Lady Is a Tramp”

“Luck Be A Lady”

“Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans”

“I Get A Kick Out Of You”

Steve Morrison – Seventy Times Seven

The fourth album from the Sydney based bassist is a delightful cool mesh of chilled jazz funk. Look out for the album launch coming up at the Basement on Tuesday 13th December.

Tracks played on The New Thing:

‘Coral Sea’

‘Jamie’s Tune’

‘We The People’

‘Hill of Hilasterion’

Independent Track of The Week

“Good Thing” by Georgia Potter. The genre hopping singer gets down with some blues on this track.

Deep Street Soul – Look Out Watch Out

The follow up album to their 2009 debut release, the Melbourne funksters have stayed true to what they know; producing awesome soul funk. Some of it’s get down dirty, some of it’s smooth, but its all got sooouuuul.

Tracks played on The New Thing:

“Soul Loco Suite”

“Hold On Me”

“Make Everything Alright”

“What She Said”

“Fallin'”

A Track From Eastside Radio’s Album Of The Week

“The Devil’s Sake” by Lanie Lane from the album To The Horses/

Makoto – Souled Out

The Japanese producer has fused a whole host of genres on his latest release. Disco, dubstep, drum and bass and electronica all get dosed wit an underlying soul funk vibe. Stand out track “Tower Of Love” may also be the happiest song ever made!

Tracks played on The New Thing:

“Tower Of Love”

“Flight Time”

And today’s final track on the New Thing was a slice of Nu Disco! A favourite of mine at the moment, Groove Armada have been remixed by M3 and Bachelors of Science on their track “History” and converted it to an old skool 70’s themed disco tune. Groovy man.

Be sure to tune in every Monday from 9.00 til 10.30am for your weekly dose of fresh new music!
