Marialy Pacheco – Spaces Within

Launched at the Sound Lounge last Thursday, pianist Marialy Pacheco’s latest album continues her fantastic classically inspired piano jazz with a touch of Latino passion. The first woman to be awarded 1st place at the Montreux Jazz solo piano competition last year, she is a tremendous talent.

Trichotomy – Fact Finding Mission

The new one on the great Jazzhead label, Trichotomoy (formerly Misinterprotato)are garnering rave reviews in the UK after their recent tour there. The new album of original music features energetic melodies, diverse bass lines and flowing rhythms. The album launch is set for 4th May at The Seymour Center.

Colman Brothers – Colman Brothers Remixed

18 months after their fantastic debut on Wah Wah 45’s, the Colman Brothers have now undergone the remix treatment. Featuring an array of international producers, their 60’s Latin influenced jazz  has been twisted and turned into salsa, disco, dubstep, reggae, hip hop and alternative jazz. Great artists on a great label.

Catch Release – Asleep Is A Friend Of Mine

An alternative group from Melbourne, Catch Release describe their style as jazz, soul, classical and folk all with a touch of pop. There’s a French horn in there, violins and beatboxing, the percussion on the release is particularly fantastic. It’s different but it totally works.
