The Robert Cray Band- In My Soul
Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is In My Soul by The Robert Cray Band.
It’s an unlucky number for some, but for this Georgia musician his 13th album is a cool blend of that traditional bluesy sound and impassioned vocals. His band consists of Les Falconer on drums, Dover Weinberg on Keyboards and Richard Cousins on bass guitar, combining their slick skills to create an album full of personality.
From the opening number You Move Me, boasting horns and a punchy consistent beat, this album is a whirlwind of heart-starters and slow-jams. Third and fourth tracks Fine Yesterday and Your Good Thing Is About To End are paced gems, dripping with emotion and soul and allowing down time before the pace slowly starts to pick up through I Guess I’ll Never Know, Hold On and What Would You Say until Hip Tight Onions catchy riffage hurtles down your ear holes. After some much induced hand-clapping, You’re My Everything, Deep In My Soul and the bonus track Pillow ease the end of collection of beautifully crafted decibels.
The album draws to a close and that ‘play’ button has never been so inviting. Multiple listens of this glorious record only allows more time to reflect on the timelessness of Robert’s sound and the pure devotion he has inflicted upon his latest release.
