Originally striving to put rap within its proper historical and musical context, the Big Payback has stretched out to embrace a broad range of beat-based genres and styles.
For more than a decade host and DJ Graflex Flash has featured slices from his formidable vinyl collection, throwing some shine on the artists and influences that have formed the basis for some fifty years of dance music. Flash is often joined by the Shady Lady, and her unique vibe of bass and boogie-driven soul.
Expect to hear funk, lounge, soul, dancehall, breaks, soca, disco, reggae, R&B, rock, jazz, electronica, house, hip-hop, blues and . . . . well, you get the idea.
