Out of time, place and mind

Arts Thursday with Maisy Stapleton on 2 November brings the world of the arts to Eastside.

First of all, Singapore comes to Sydney.

Singapore: Inside Out transports Singapore’s energetic creative life to Chippendale, in a cross disciplinary kaleidoscope of visual arts, music, food and fashion, as well as design and film, presented by artists from both Australia and Singapore through installations, experiential exhibitions, concerts, digital projections accompanied by cocktails and Singaporean food.

Urich Lau, visual artist, art educator and independent curator joins the show first up, just after 10:30am

Then after 11:00am, Belinda Hanrahan, Head of Arts and Culture at Sutherland Shire Council and Director of Hazlehurst Regional Gallery takes us on a tour of European Old Masters now on exhibition at Hazlehurst, from the Art Gallery of NSW.

Spanning three centuries of artistic development, these luscious works take you from the Renaissance to Romanticism, and across Europe from England to Italy. The paintings range from portraits to landscapes, sea scapes and religious paintings commissioned by the Church.

The European Old Masters is a great opportunity to study these works in detail in a new setting.

Finally on Arts Thursday, Jon Haynes – writer, performer and Co-Artistic Director and Producer of Ridiculusmus, talks about the current performance at the Seymour CentreGive Me Your Love.

Ridiculusmus is an award winning British Theatre Company. Their work takes complex mental health issues and presents them through a compassionate, if witty lens. Give Me Your Love looks at the potential use of drugs in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
