Tonight 6pm: Something Else- Flickerfest

At 6pm tonight on Something Else, your weekly dose of alternative arts and culture, Maren will be chatting to two directors whose short films are in contention in the Australian shorts competition, Victoria Goodyear and Alister Lockhart,

Victoria is the director of Kamambo (meaning Butterfly) which is based on the true story of a young West Papuan refugee in Australia whose story, and that of 18 other West Papuans, caused an international incident in Indonesian/Australian relations.

Still from Kamambo (Butterfly) , Goodyear, 2011

Alister is the director of Nullarbor, an animated ‘tortoise and hare’ race between a brash young punk and an old digger set in the longest stretch of straight road in Australia, which won Best Animation at both Sydney and Melbourne Film Fests and received a Special Jury Prize at Palm Springs.
