Topology & The Australian Voices
In this distinctive work, Queensland’s new music quintet Topology and one of our most distinguished choirs The Australian Voices bring together the most memorable speeches from prime ministers through the ages with exceptional musicianship to create a unique musical narrative.
Unrepresentative Swill takes the words right out of our Prime Ministers’ mouths marrying them seamlessly to an overlay of stirring music and choral work. Composed by Topology’s masterminds Robert Davidson and John Babbage, alongside musical powerhouse Gordon Hamilton, the performance traverses pivotal moments that have shaped our nation — from Menzies’ Declaration of War to Whitlam’s Well May We Say; Gillard’s Misogyny speech to Abbott’s A Stain on Our Souls. Each piece explores cadence, rhythm and significance, discovering its element and rendering it on an expanse of harmony and musical innovation. This is an extraordinary performance, fascinating and musically absorbing – a rare event for Sydney. The In-flight Bar and Diner opens at 6pm serving delicious snacks and a selection of wines and beers.
