Trichotomy comes to SIMA’s Soundlounge next Saturday

TrichotomyFollowing on from performances in London, Brisbane and Melbourne, Trichotomy bring their Fact Finding Mission to Sydney’s Soundlounge on Saturday May 4 with the help of celebrated guitarist Steve Magnusson.

“There’s a sense of fun, happiness and a general love of playing music together,” says pianist Sean Foran, “playing with Steve is something we’ve wanted to do for quite a while, so it’s wonderful to finally make it happen.

“Our Sydney album launch is particularly exciting for us as we get to perform with Stephen”, he continues. “[He] is a guitarist with such a singular sound and approach to music making. We’ve all been fans of his for a long time so it’s quite the treat to be sharing the stage with him. The SIMA show is also the final gig in our album launch shows… so after this we’ll be onto some new projects!”

They herald this significant step with Fact Finding Mission. Recently featured as Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week, Music Director Sam Allen writes “There is a total understanding of each player’s style between the three with some breathtaking interplay on the release. Indeed such identification between the trio is key to the success of their cross pollination of styles. Fact Finding Mission covers modern jazz, avant rock and alternative classical music, with Trichotomy excelling in their multiformity and obscurity.”Trichotomy 2

The ensemble, incorporating European and Indian folk elements, straddles classical music, rock and jazz. With a strong history as the trio Misinterprotato, the group have reinvented themselves as Trichotomy.

This is a great opportunity to catch this group on the up, and with reports of their rising profile in Europe, it’s a good idea to catch them now.
