Two Exhibitions
On Arts Thursday, 30 January, join Maisy Stapleton to celebrate the Chinese New Year as she speaks to Cao Yin, Curator of Chinese Art , Art Gallery of NSW on The connoisseur and the philanthropist, 30 years of the Sternberg collection.
This exhibition commemorates the generosity of Goldie and Ed Sternberg and their family and showcases over 50 exquisite Asian pieces acquired through their support and donation (photo bottom left).
A second guest on Arts Thursday is Tom Evangelides, a Director of the new Black Eye Gallery in Darlinghurst, devoted to contemporary photography.
In February, Black Eye presents an exhibition FADE TO GREY, featuring the works of Robyn Beeche, top fashion photographer in the 70s and 80s. Beeche’s subjects included cult personalities Zhandra Rhodes, and Vivienne Westwood.
Her photographs of dramatically painted models, achieved a highly theatrical imagery, long predating photo shop techniques (photo top left).
