Unashamedly Original
A TWO-DAY FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY 22 AND SUNDAY 23 JULY
Sick of the cold? Park yourself at City Recital Hall for a weekend of performances that are, well, unashamedly original.
Our collaborators have let their imaginations run wild to create multidisciplinary experiences that push the envelope of sight and sound.
These original works don’t fit neatly into any music style or genre. In fact, they refuse to be stereotyped. Don’t try to pin it down. Just sit back and enjoy the journey.
Highlights of this two-day festival include Speak Percussion’s Fluorophone, where analogue and digital fluorescent lights, the naked flame, strobe lights and LED discs combine with percussion to create a kaleidoscopic sound world. And, in Transducer, Speak Percussion’s Artistic Director Eugene Ughetti and new media artist Robin Fox explore the relationship between percussion and the microphone, space and kinetics, and acoustic and processed sound.
One of Australia’s most acclaimed visual artists, Wendy Sharpe, joins forces with Australian Art Quartet to recreate William Hogarth’s masterpiece, live on stage, with music by Handel, Pärt and Shostakovich, in The Enraged Musicians.
Pick up a two-day pass to access all showcase performances on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July.
