Walk the Walls, Cronulla – street art festival

Walk the Walls Caringbah 2018

After the success of the 1st festival in Caringbah in 2018, Cronulla hosts the 2nd Walks the Walls festival of street art November 8-10.

35 artists will paint murals on 40 walls over the weekend. In this free outdoor event you can see them create incredible works of art from scratch to completion. Plus there will be live music for Australian Music Week, food stalls and lots of activities throughout the beachside suburb.

Ondes Martenot

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra is about to perform Olivier Messiaen’s mammoth composition, Turangalîla-Symphonie on Thursday 21 November.

With over 100 musicians on stage and a duration of 80 minutes, it is possibly one of the largest orchestral works ever written.

The work features one of the earliest electronic instruments, the ondes martenot, which was invented in 1928.

Ondist, Jacob Abela talks to Arts Monday about this extraordinary instrument, and about his love of Messiaen’s work.

Bookings and details of the performance can be found here.
