Eastside Covers THE White Wedding!
Eastside Radio brings you full coverage of the white wedding… well, ‘A’ white wedding but yes, it was during ‘THAT’ wedding!
Gallery Serpentine, an antidote to the mundane, played host to the Royal Wedding (April 29th, 2011).
Myself and photographer Dusk Devi Gold were invited to go along so that we could in fact take YOU with us, dearest Armchair Traveller, through audio and images.
Yes – there were petite fours, scones and bubbly and obviously a wedding, but this wedding was a little, well, alternative and threatened to out shine that of Will and Kate’s.
Marriage celebrant Fiona King embraced her alter ego ‘Lady Finduella Killigrew Dunbar’ – and with plum in mouth, married two of Sydney’s great beauties.
As Will and Kate spoke their ‘unique’ vows, so too did our brides, the divine Sarina Del Fuego and Susy Natal.
Yes it was somewhat a protest, as the brides, well known artists and performers, embraced the opportunity to have a stunt wedding, taking a political standpoint – that ALL couples should have the right to marriage, but, it was also light hearted and in good humour.
The crowd was made up of some 20 to 30 colourful and courageous characters; loyal followers of the high end alternative fashion retailer – as well as passers-by, attracted in store by the operatic vocals of Susy Natal.
The wedding commentary by the crowd was witty and refreshing – just what you’d hope for – alternative indeed!!! No superficial nonsense at this scene!
It was an honour for this reporter to have been at such an event.
