Work Experience- About Panagiota!

Hi I’m Panagiota and I’ve just finished doing work experience at East Side 89.7 FM for a week. I’m 16 and love different types of music such as rock, pop, soul etc. I attend high school at Kingsgrove North and I’m in year 10. I enjoy taking photographs, writing, watching my favourite shows and spending time with my family the most. I speak two languages which are English and Greek, but mostly speak Greek at home so I remain fluent. I moved to Australia in 2009 from Greece and learned English quicker then I can remember.

When I finish high school I would like to move back to Greece and do Journalism or public speaking. I’m really into writing and debating, as it’s a way of expressing myself to others. Writing helps me out in so many ways, whether i’m stressed, happy or simply just want to pass time. I have a big obsession with the violin as well.  When I was little, I visited Greece, I went to a festival, and this lady was covering songs with her violin and straight away I got into it. Since then I love hearing songs with violin solos. A few of my hobbies include spending time on my Tumblr blog, re-blogging lots of travelling photos, listening to new music such as teenagers covering songs or even sharing their own music. I love taking photographs of new places I visit or anything that really catches my eye. I believe photos are showcased best in black and white, in my opinion it allows for your imagination wonder.

My experience at East Side 89.7 FM has been really enjoyable. Tony (Station manager) and all the workers have been really good mentors, showing me all types of new music and teaching me all their techniques they use when working in this environment. Mel ( Music director) was kind enough to introduce me to different jazz music that I never thought i’d be into. I really enjoyed learning about The Crooked Fiddle band and Rhiannon Giddens. Μy week here has given me the opportunity to update my playlists with different kind of music.
