Lila’s Week Off!

Hello, my name is Lilla.

I am the young age of 15 years, nearly 16, and I’m just finishing up year 10 at Barrenjoey High School, which is situated on the Northern beaches of Sydney. I live in Ettalong, which is a small town on the Central Coast just an hour and a half North of Sydney City. I travel to school everyday via an exhilarating ferry ride that goes from Ettalong to Palm Beach. I am a solo singer/songwriter/guitarist and I play in a brand new band that plays pop, rock and a bit of alternative music. We call ourselves Curio City.

Being a teenager is an interesting time of ones life, and I have to admit setting my mind on my future always makes this time of my life one of utmost excitment. I have always dreamt of becoming a successful musician and creating music to make a living, which is the one thing that I enjoy doing most in life. In the meantime while I write my songs and forge my pathway to pursuing my dreams, I must gain a better understanding of the other careers in the field of music and entertainment, that might catch my attention. My interest in music brought about the idea of working in a radio station scene, so I decided to try it out for a week. Today is my last day of work experience at Eastside Radio and throughout this experience I have learn’t about the functions and aspects of working in a community radio station. I have met lots of very wonderful and interesting people, listened to tons of beautiful Jazz music that I have never heard before and learned some simple but important skills such as knowing what to say when answering the phone, making a coffee for guests, which I haven’t quite perfected yet, editing posts to upload onto the Eastside website and finally and most fun of all, recording an Ad for a sponsor, to go on the radio! All in all the experience I have gained, skills I have learnt and people I have met, have made work experience really worth while, and maybe I’ll come back to do volunteering with Eastside in the holidays. You never know, maybe you’ll be hearing me on the radio in a few years to come.

Thanks Lilla 🙂
