Woven, Stitched!

The unexpected use of traditional techniques unites the work of guests featured in this week’s Arts Thursday.

Patricia Casey is a photographer who prints on fabric and embroiders her work to create ethereal, mysterious pieces, redolent of the past but grappling with entirely contemporary issues. Her exhibition, Little Secrets is soon to open at NG Gallery in Chippendale.

The New Weave exhibition now on at Object Gallery explores weaving techniques transposed to unexpected materials and means of fabrication, from barbed wire to canes of glass. Co-Curators Lisa Cahill and  Carrie Mulford tell of the rationale and background to this exhibition
