ZEALOT and MELYZ – Arts Monday

Why would anyone join a cult? Maybe they’re unhappy with their current religion, or they want to change the world, or they’re disappointed with their lives and want to find something bigger or holier that makes sense of a confusing, chaotic and dangerous world. Or they just want to give themselves the best possible chance of having sex with aliens. Whatever the reason, once people are in, it’s usually extremely difficult for them to leave. Jo Thornely’s book about cults, ZEALOT, which is based on her Australian podcast ZEALOT, is a wide-sweeping look at cults around the world and why people are drawn to them.

Author, Jo Thornely is my guest today.

MELYZ represented Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contestunder her real name – Mélanie René – with one of her own compositions “Time to Shine”. After touring Europe for many Eurovision related events for over a year, Melyz decided to focus on a more authentic and personal music project, and developed a Pop Electro vibe, under the artist pseudonym, MELYZ.  “Melyz is a blend of catchy Pop feels and heavy Electro groove, a mixture of Mauritian vibes and European glam, a fierce yet soulful music creation”.

Melyz’s debut EP “Don’t Tell On Us”was released this year and her music video for the eponym song was launched last month.

Singer songwriter, MELYZ is my guest today.
